International festival of blacksmith’s - Day of the town Ivano-Frankivsk (7 May 2011)
International festival of blacksmith’s 7 May 2011 Every year on the 7-th of May we celebrate the Day of the town Ivano-Frankivsk. During this holiday in the town is held International festival of blacksmith’s. Artists from different regions of Ukraine and from different counties are gathering every year in our town. In 2010 celebrations were attended by more than three hundred blacksmiths from 25 countries, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Bulgaria, Britain, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland Russia, USA, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Sweden, Ukraine.
The festival is a demonstration of blacksmith work, fair forged things, and numerous master classes with different techniques of forging. Every year festival has it’s theme that is changing. According to the theme of the festival blacksmiths are creating common works. Every blacksmith is making some details and at the end they are taking them together in one construction. Next year such construction opens the festival and is installed on the street and square of the town.
Nowadays we have several such constructions. Those constructions are “The bunch of flowers”, “A tree of happiness”, “Easter sun”, “Spring”, “In the frames of blacksmith’s traditions”. This year was done “Merry-go-round” now it’s preserved and this year it will open the festival and after will be installed somewhere in the town. Such constructions are the gift from blacksmiths to the citizens of the town for their warm exception and hospitality.
